Supply water to crafting factories

Since Wake of the Water, water-consuming factories have their own water storage. Fill it with a water tool, put filled water pouches in that factory’s inventory, or use its button to draw from a nearby well. Recipes now consume water portions rather than the old water-pouch items.

Early Access guide: released Update 8 rules and version 0.9.1.2 recipe data. Not a guide to unreleased 1.0 changes.

Three inputs supply the factory’s water storage

The production job is to fill the factory’s water storage. A large visible reservoir is not the recipe requirement.

Water tool, filled pouch or a nearby well feeds factory storage; the recipe consumes water portions. Swipe the diagram to inspect each part.

Use the supply path available at that factory. Add filled pouches to the factory’s inventory. For a nearby well, follow the factory’s displayed draw-water action.

Check pouch fill state rather than counting old stacks

Wake of the Water reworks pouches to hold a fill state. They no longer behave like a stack of identical static water ingredients. Natural water, wells and barrels can provide water for filling pouches.

When a production recipe needs water, check the factory’s storage and the water actually present in the supplied pouch. Counting an empty container as one old water item can leave the recipe without the portions it needs.

Check the factory before redesigning the base

  1. Recipe needs water

Identify the production station being supplied.

  2. Inspect storage

Check the station’s own available water.

  3. Choose an input

Tool, filled pouch or nearby well action.

  4. Check production

Use the recipe’s current water-portion requirement.

Separate factory supply from simulated base water

Factory storage solves a crafting-resource task. A dispenser, barrier or decorative pool solves a water-generation and containment task. Building the latter is not necessary just because a recipe uses water.

If the workshop already has a usable nearby well or filled pouches, begin with that supply route. Keep decorative water separate so a production problem does not turn into an avoidable flooding project.
