Water · generation and containment

Water dispensers and barriers: control water at your base

A Water Dispenser generates simulated water until it is submerged. Craft one at the Workbench with 1 Metal Scraps and 3 Tin Bars. Water Barriers are the deliberate water-blocking props and can be placed vertically or horizontally; ordinary props do not automatically block water. Keep permanent base alterations inside the altar’s area.

Recognize a Water Barrier in the official example

Keen Games’ Update 7 example shows a vertical Water Barrier separating the interior from water outside. This image identifies the result, not a placement-menu walkthrough.

The developers describe Water Barriers as a way to block water while letting players transition between wet and dry areas. Barriers can be used vertically or horizontally. Choose the intended boundary before turning a dispenser into a large filling job.

Plan containment before filling

This is a planning checklist. For the dispenser, submersion is the described stopping condition.

  1. Protected area

Keep the intended permanent base edits inside coverage.

  2. Water boundary

Choose the deliberate barrier rather than a normal prop.

  3. Generation

Know where the dispenser’s water can reach.

  4. Removal plan

    Keep the emergency-drain guide available.

Use current water behaviour when judging an old build

Update 8 fixes how Water Barriers load with water and changes Floor Drain behaviour. An old save-loading trick or an old leak report may describe behaviour that has since changed.

Keep a water project small while checking its boundary and removal plan. This guide covers generation and barriers; portable-pump and Watering Can controls are separate operations. If your actual goal is supplying crafting recipes, you may not need a decorative reservoir at all.
