Drain a flooded base and stop the water source

Stop or remove the water source first, then use the Flame Altar’s emergency action to remove simulated water inside the base. For routine drainage, Floor Drains remove water above them. Update 8 makes water contacting a drain disappear almost instantly, but water farther away still has to reach a drain.

Early Access guide: released Update 8 rules and version 0.9.1.2 recipe data. Not a guide to unreleased 1.0 changes.

Remove the cause before clearing the flood

Clearing water while its source continues can leave you dealing with the same flooding again.

  1. Stop the source

Remove or stop the continuing water input.

  2. Use the base altar

    Select its emergency water-removal action.

  3. Check the cleared area

Watch for a source that is still feeding it.

  4. Plan routine drainage

Place drainage for water that can reach it.

Use the altar’s water action, not altar removal

Wake of the Water adds emergency removal of simulated water inside the base through the Flame Altar. Look for the water-removal action on your altar; it is not the action that extinguishes the altar or removes building protection.

Stop the source first. A dispenser that can keep supplying water or an opening that continues to admit it needs attention as well as the accumulated flood. The altar action is a base recovery tool, not a way to erase all natural water throughout the world.

    Floor Drain

Removes water above it; place it on the floor.

Update 8 changes Floor Drains to remove water that contacts them almost instantly. That does not mean a single drain instantly clears distant water. Flow paths and the part of the floor the water reaches still matter.

Check the cause before restarting the project

After clearing the base, review where the water originated and what you expected to block it. Ordinary props are not substitutes for deliberate Water Barriers.

As a practical planning step, keep the next filling attempt small enough that you can inspect the affected room and its drainage. Preserve the emergency option, but use containment and source control to avoid repeating the same recovery.
