Make Fired Bricks, brick blocks and Roof Tiles

Recruit the Carpenter and provide Shelter, then craft a Kiln with 50 Stone, 10 Lump of Clay, 10 Metal Scraps and 2 Twigs. The Kiln turns 1 Lump of Clay plus 1 Wood-family log into 1 Fired Brick in 30 seconds. At the Workbench, 10 Fired Bricks make 100 Fired Bricks Blocks; 4 Fired Bricks plus 1 Clay and 1 Plant Fiber make 50 Roof Tiles.

Build the production station, then feed it

The Fired Brick recipe requires both recruiting the Carpenter and obtaining Lump of Clay. Basic Wood Logs are one valid input; the current recipe also lists Hardwood, Palm, Conifer, Bamboo and Tropical wood alternatives.

Keep the two crafting stages separate

  1. Sheltered Carpenter

    Crafts the Kiln station.

  2. Kiln

Processes clay and a log into Fired Brick material.

  3. Workbench

Converts that material into building or roof blocks.

  4. Construction Hammer

    Places the selected building material.

Choose the output you actually need

A Fired Brick is the kiln-produced ingredient. Fired Bricks Block is a different, processed building item. Use the ingredient named by the recipe, not the similarly named block stack.

Check the conversion recipe as well as the Kiln

Fired Bricks Block requires acquiring Fired Brick and a qualifying basic building block. Roof Tiles also has a combined prerequisite rather than unlocking from Clay alone. Having an operating Kiln therefore does not mean every later roof recipe is already available.

Start by confirming that the Fired Brick material has been acquired, then inspect the desired Workbench recipe. Keep “station unlocked,” “ingredient produced” and “building recipe unlocked” as three separate checks.

Plan production around the target material

If you are making a brick shell, use the 10-brick conversion batch. If you are making a tile roof, keep Clay and Plant Fiber available for the second recipe as well as the Kiln input.

The 30-second figure is the listed single production time. This guide covers the workshop chain; use a location or quest guide if you still need Clay or have not recruited the Carpenter.
